The NC State Graduate School offers support to help you develop your communication skills, including public speaking, within the context of evidence-based best practices in teaching and learning. Teaching, in this context, means communicating complex ideas clearly and persuasively, tailoring your message to meet the needs of your audience. As an advanced degree holder you will almost certainly spend a significant portion of your professional life interpreting specialized information for a nonspecialist audience. New TA Workshop

In addition to providing a basic overview of best practices in teaching and related topics, the New TA Workshop is intended to increase participants’ classroom confidence and connect them to resources they can draw on in the future.

Teaching and Communication Certificate

The certificate program is designed to increase accessibility, flexibility, and transferability of teaching and communication training for graduate students and postdocs at NC State. Our training emphasizes effective communication with the diverse audiences that advanced degree holders can expect to encounter throughout their career.
