Sciences Graduate Programs Make Strong Showing in Latest U.S. News Rankings

NC State Sciences graduate programs ranked highly in their fields in the latest rankings of graduate schools in science by U.S. News and World Report.

NC State’s statistics program once again ranked in the top 20 in the nation. The program was listed at number 16 among all institutions and in the top 10 among public programs.

Other graduate programs in the college also made strong showings. The chemistry, physics and mathematics programs were ranked in the top 40 among U.S. public institutions and 52nd, 52nd and 53rd, respectively, overall. All ranked in the top 30 percent of programs surveyed.

Biological sciences ranked 85th overall, in the top third of programs surveyed.

U.S. News ranks graduate disciplines annually and evaluates factors such as employment rates, starting salaries for graduates and standardized test scores of newly enrolled students. The rankings methodology varies across disciplines to account for differences in the programs.
