Zhejiang University 3+X Applicants

Congratulations on your nomination to apply to NC State University as a 3+X graduate applicant. Below is a list of major programs who will review applications from ZJU 3+X applicants. Please consider this list as you submit your graduate school application through the online application. You can click on the link for each major and view their program website.

3+X Majors Recommended length of program Specific Requirements
Accounting 3+1.5, 3+2 Applicant needs a strong accounting background and to have taken the following course work: Accounting, Accounting II, Intermediate Financial Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting. The first semester at NCSU will be spent taking 3-4 pre-requisite courses.
Aerospace Engineering 3+2  
Animal Science Contact program directly Applicant needs strong animal science background; specific pre-requisites are required. Require acceptable TOEFL or IELTS score at time of application.
Bioinformatics 3+2 Application deadline is January 15.
Biological & Agricultural Engineering 3+1.5  
Biomedical Engineering 3+2  
Chemical Engineering 3+1, 3+2 Dependent on background.
Chemistry 3+3  
Civil Engineering 3+1.5  
Crop Science 3+2  
Curriculum and Instruction 3+1.5 or 3+2  
Economics 3+1 Require acceptable TOEFL or IELTS score at time of application. At least 20 in speaking, reading and writing, and 18 in listening.
Electrical and Computer Engineering Contact program directly DGP will require TOEFL/IELTS and GRE scores at the time of application. Application deadline is December 15.
Financial Math 3 + 1.5 There are specific undergraduate courses that are required before taking graduate courses. Application deadline is January 20.
Food Science 3 + 1.5 Only non-thesis Masters (MR) degree is available
Forestry 3+2 The non-thesis degree requires a project, so prefer a 3+2. Desire strong background.
Functional Genomics Contact program directly  
Horticulture Science 3+2, 3+3 Per Director, offer a non-thesis degree, but prefer 3+2 or 3+3 program.
Industrial Design Contact program directly A design portfolio is required with application. Complete applications are required, including TOEFL/IELTS scores. Application deadline is January 5.
Industrial Engineering 3+2 DGP will require TOEFL/IELTS and GRE scores at time of application.
Landscape Architecture 3+2 A design portfolio is required with application. Program may take longer if pre-requisites are not met. Application deadline is January 5.
Mechanical Engineering 3+2 A thesis program may be available in 3+3 format.
Microbiology 3+2  
Natural Resources 3+2 The non-thesis degree requires a project, so prefer a 3+2. Desire strong background.
Natural Resources – Assessment & Analysis Option 3+2 The non-thesis degree requires a project, so prefer a 3+2. Desire strong background.
Natural Resources – Economics & Management Option 3+2 The non-thesis degree requires a project, so prefer a 3+2. Desire strong background.
Nutrition 3+1.5 Only non-thesis Masters (MR) degree is available.
Operations Research Contact program directly GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores required at time of application.
Physics 3+1 Will take longer if 12 hours of Physics courses are not taken during Fall/GTI semester.
Plant Biology 3+1.5, 3+2 Non-thesis program requiring a project. Whether 3+1.5 or 2 depends upon background of student and ability to work on project and take courses during GTI semester. GRE and TOEFL scores required at time of application. Strong background in plant biology or related area required. Research experience preferred.
Statistics 3+1.5, 3+2  GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores required at time of application.
Technical Communication 3+2  
Textile Chemistry 3+1.5  TOEFL scores required at time of application.
Textile Engineering 3+1.5  TOEFL scores required at time of application.
Textiles Contact program directly  TOEFL scores required at time of application.
Wood and Paper Science 3+2  

Deadlines

There are several important deadlines and dates to be aware of during your application process and the entire time that you are a student at NC State University. Master’s Degree credit for courses taken during the GTI semester

You are eligible to count your graduate level credits taken during your GTI semester toward your NC State master’s degree. The course level must be 500-level or higher and you must receive at least a grade of B (3.0 out of 4.0 GPA).
