Research Resources

Postdoctoral scholars will find tools to identify funding, strengthen research skills, and access writing toolkits.

Authorship

One of the main goals of most postdoctoral appointments is to contribute to the propagation of knowledge through scholarly publications. Authorship is critical for determining credit and responsibility. NC State University has Authorship Guiding Principles to assist in addressing authorship.

Data Management

The university’s Office of Research and Innovation provides best practices for data management. Postdoctoral scholars are strongly encouraged to review and adhere to these practices.

Grant Resources

Following are resources to assist you with your grant writing and grant management.

Office of Research and Innovation

NC State’s Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) supports the research, scholarship, and creative activities of the university community by promoting collaborative research and an innovative environment. ORI has units which oversee research administration, research compliance, research commercialization, and other areas related to research endeavors. Postdocs are encouraged to review ORI’s website to learn more.

Research Integrity

The university has REG 10.00.02, Research Integrity and Responding to Allegations of Misconduct, which is a must-read for all researchers. This regulation sets forth NC State’s process for addressing all research misconduct allegations in compliance with applicable federal requirements for federally funded research.

Responsible Conduct of Research Training

It is imperative that all postdoctoral scholars talk with their principal investigators (PIs) about the lab/safety/compliance training that are applicable to their program. Additionally, postdocs should review and complete the Research Compliance Trainings offered through the university’s Office of Research and Innovation (ORI).
