The Graduate School Ambassador Program

Ensuring leadership and innovation in graduate education, while fostering community.

The Graduate School Ambassador program is a collaborative initiative between the Graduate School and Graduate Student Association. Graduate Student Ambassadors are a group of exceptional graduate students who represent a range of graduate programs and believe in promoting academic excellence, leadership, and innovation, while fostering a strong sense of community amongst our graduate student population.

Our Mission

  • Promoting the highest-quality education for students and postdoctoral scholars, including outstanding academic experiences, opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research, and professional development that prepares students and postdocs for success in their fields
  • Advancing the diversity of graduate education at NC State and of the professoriate nationwide through recruitment, retention, and support of underrepresented minority groups
  • Fostering an environment in which graduate faculty can reach their potential as teachers researchers, and mentors to graduate students
  • Encouraging research and graduate programs that address the critical issues that challenge our state, our nation, and our world
  • Achieving recognition of NC State as a model for leadership and innovation in graduate education in North America.

Our Aim

  • Be positive, be present and be an advocate for graduate education and graduate student community building here at NC State. 
  • Assist the Graduate School in building a brand reputation that aligns with our core vision and mission.
    • Leadership and innovation in graduate education. Being a catalyst for excellence in graduate education at NC State. 
  • Represent and reflect the culture of graduate education and a sense of community amongst Graduate Students. 
  • Participate in Graduate School and GSA related programming—then talk about it! Post, tweet, share, like and reel.
  • Work specifically with our Graduate School marketing and communications team to share messaging with other graduate student segments.

Who can be a Graduate Student Ambassador?

  • Current Graduate Students, postdocs, or alumni that have participated in one or more Graduate School programmatic events and are willing to share positive experiences. 
  • Graduate students that are strong advocates for graduate education, passionate about their research and the NC State graduate community.
  • Graduate students that have active social media accounts and are willing to share branded messages with their followers. 
  • Graduate students that are also willing to participate in professional development, marketing and engagement activities that will be promoted on the Graduate School’s main social media channels. 
  • Lastly, these students recognize the vital role they play in spreading information and spirit throughout the graduate student body here at NC State.

    • Graduate Education Day at the NC General Assembly 
    • Professional Development Events
  • Moments to build tradition and spirit.
    • Packapalooza, Red and White Week, athletic and other student experience related events.
