Communication Skills Program

Becoming an effective communicator is essential to one’s success in a graduate degree and one’s future profession, especially in the face of challenges across academic fields. Through the NC State Graduate School, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars can apply a “Think and Do” mindset by becoming successful communicators using our professional development programming in the areas of verbal and written communication. We use active learning principles to help advanced degree holders become more efficient, productive communicators regardless of their academic discipline or career path and to apply what they learn in our programs to communicate with diverse groups in a myriad of academic and professional settings. We also provide a non-credit Communication Skills Certificate (formerly Writing Certificate) that, upon successful completion, will be notated on your transcript.
